Brought Near by the Blood of Christ

This picture was taken on July 20, 2007--one day before my father's sister's son got married.

I see a former man who had hopelessness and deadness in his eyes.  Yet, I thank God, who is rich in mercy and abounding in steadfast love!  [B]ut God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved),--Ephesians 2:4-5--ASV 1901

July 27, 2007, is a day for the books.  On that day, he was told of a great truth that changed his life forever.  A divine appointment was initiated to send W.J. and Travis to the top of the Continental Divide.  W.J. asked this question, "If you died tonight and were standing in the presence of God, and he asked you, 'Why should I allow you into my heaven'?  What would you say"?  I responded by saying, "I don't deserve heaven--only Hell.  I am not a good person.  I am sinful.  How would you answer God's question, W.J."?  In like manner, W.J., told me he didn't deserve to be allowed into heaven but rightly deserved Hell.  He told me that God is rich in mercy.  He told me that God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to save sinners.--that Christ died for ungodly sinners, that He was buried. and that He was raised three days later.  W.J. told me that because of what Christ did, sinners could be shown hope in a hopeless world.  W.J. seemed very confident in the things he told me regarding a crucified and resurrected Christ.

I am confident that W.J. shared the truth.  It is a glorious thing that the Lord himself showed me this old photograph to remind me of who I once was--a lost and hopeless man who wanted to die because this world only brought heartache, pain, and misery!  Give all the glory and thanks to Jesus Christ. Don't the rocks cry out for God's glory!  Ought not we, as humans, who were created in God's image, to give him even more glory, honor, and praise!

Consider these matters for yourself.  But know this . . . nobody knows the day or hour of which they are appointed to die.  If you die after having read this and Christ Jesus has not brought you from spiritual death to life; if Christ Jesus has not washed you by his blood and you are not a forgiven man; if you have not confessed your sins to the God of all creation, Jesus Christ, and asked him to forgive you; know this, that if you die, there are no second chances.  This life is our second chance. If our mortal body dies without being born a second time (new spiritual birth through faith in Christ), we will die a second time and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire, a place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth; a place where the worm never dies; a place that was prepared for the devil and his angels.
